Backup your Picnik Photos
Reading through some of the many online news journals I subscribe to, I found that Picnik was one of Australia’s most searched for terms on Google. I hadn’t heard of it, so I looked it up.

Now my wife would love this. Not only is it free but you can fine tune your most precious photos in an instant and yes it is partly free. What it does is allow you to import photos from the web, your PC, flickr, Facebook and a few other sources into the application (which is online by the way) and then adjust the quality of the photo, much in the same way you do at a digital photo lab. You can Auto-fix, Crop, Rotate, Resize, adjust the Exposure and Colour, Sharpen and even fix Red-eye. In addition it also allows you to create effects with your pics, like add text and highlight areas. It also has features for Scrap Booking fans.
The fixes all happen online and then you can re-download the picture back to your PC or re-share it with the online service that holds them for you. The free service allows you to mange 5 photos at a time but if you pay a little per month you can do 100.
If you are going to keep the Picnik enhanced pictures on your PC, I would suggest that you make sure they are backed up. Nothing worse in this day and age of digital, than people storing thousands of photos on their PC and then losing them all when the PC dies. It happens too often.
So, invest in some simple online backup like Carbonite, and it will literally backup all of your photos for you. So, should your PC crash and you think you have lost it all, you can call upon Carbonite to download your Picnik improved photos with just a few clicks of your mouse.
What is also very handy with Carbonite is the remote access feature. How many times have you been at a friend’s place and said I forgot to bring my digital camera with me to show you that picture. Well, with Carbonite any picture that you have uploaded onto your PC and backed up with Carbonite, can be accessed online by you from any PC that has an internet connection. All you need to do is logon to your Carbonite account and download the photo. You can then show your enhanced Picnik photos to all of your friends each time you visit them.
