The simplest way to upgrade your trial is to open the Carbonite InfoCenter (double-click the lock icon in your system tray) and click the ‘Buy Now’ button.
You can also purchase a subscription by visiting Carbonite’s homepage at www.carbonite.com.au and clicking on the ‘Buy’ tab at the top of the page.
We will also send you several reminder emails that will provide you with instructions on how to purchase a subscription to Carbonite.
To reinstall Carbonite:
Follow the instructions to download and reinstall Carbonite.
If you are unable to follow the prompts to force an upgrade of your Carbonite installation, then please login to your Carbonite Account (username being your email address) and reinstall Carbonite from there. This can be done via the tab “My Protected Computers”. This will ensure you are running on the most up to date version of Carbonite.
The first step after you have upgraded your PC to windows is to consider how you will restore your data to your PC. If you have a copy of your data on an external drive or CD, you can manually re-load that data back onto your PC.
So that Carbonite can recognise the files as they were on your previous version of Windows, be sure to place them in the exact same directory structure.
Once you have added your files to your PC, all you then need to do is login to your Carbonite account. Go to tab “My Protected Computers” and then click on Reinstall (if you are using the same PC) or Transfer (if it is a new PC).
The installation process will end with Carbonite asking you to restore your files. Given you have already done this, you can elect that the Restore process is complete. Carbonite will then enter into its normal mode, which is “Backup mode”.
Note: if Carbonite does not recognise the files once it has been installed onto the PC, it will need to back them up again, or you will need to move them to the correct file structure for it to recognise them. When it recognises a file, it will automatically add the orange marker to the file name without you needing to manually select the file for backup.
